Ben Nevis Race 2009

Unfortunatley due to a fixture clash this year Britain's highest fell race clashed with the Peris this year............allowing a hardcore Eryri mob to do the 14 hour round trip and having perfect excuse to not to have to do the Peris!

The weather forecast wasn't great and true to it's word race day came with 100metre low cloud, wind and driving rain. As the race announcer started giving out info such as it's -3 degrees on the summit and visibility is down to 50feet - body cover was increased by most.

By looking at the results the weather had a slight effect with most runners down on last years time.
Home in 32nd for Eryri was Math Roberts in 1.50.55 - a bit down on last year; in 106th but a brill 4th lady was Sarah Ridgeway in 2.04.34 - a bit more down on last year; in 130th was Noel Craine in 2.06.48 - a little bit more down on last year; in 265th was Paul Jones in 2.27.36 - 1st time and in road shoes!; in 278th was Ali Thomas in 2.29.19 - a tad down on last time and in 422nd in 3.00.17 was Ian Blakemore.

The pub the club runners found on the night of the race managed to make up for the horrid weather and lower times and with only Scafell remaining Math Roberts, Noel Craine and Ali Thomas are all well in contention for the title of Britain's "King of the Mountains" for 2009!
