FRA announce backwards running mountain races ...

In an unusual move the Fell Runners Association have announced a series of backwards running mountain races. The races will be uphill only and be on set trails and marked courses of around 6 miles in length…

This form of racing is already popular on the continent, with such exponents as tower-man Thomas Dold amongst the best in this odd sport, holding backwards running world records from 400m to 2km. Speaking to MST Thomas said “This is super. Well done to the UK for this new idea!”.

Details on the exact race locations are yet be decided, but speaking to MST an FRA spokesman said, “It’s the future. Puts much less pressure on knee joints and the like, and will be a big opportunity for shoe manufacturers to develop a whole new shoe design”.
