Eryri's Rob Samuel made a successful return to the Borders Road Running league in his first race of the 2009/10 season at Prestatyn on Sunday 11th April, the 2008/09 Border League Champion led from start to finish to comfortably win the 5.1 mile race along the promenade in 26:28 ahead of club colleague Brendan Rothery 27:42 with: 16th Ifan Richards 29:15. 35th Tony Woodall 30:52. 42nd Jordan Evans 31:11. 43rd Chris Evans 31:14. 44th (3rd MV/50) Arwel Lewis 31:18. 51st Gwyn Williams 31:47. 58th Jos Jones 32:19. 61st Ashley Wager 32:49. 92nd Nic Jones 34:39. 100th (2nd MV/65) Don Williams 35:08. 101st (3rd MV/65) Emyr Davies 35:11. 119th Ian Rothery 35:43. 121st Peter Lewis 35:45. 139th Merfyn Williams 36:52 and 139th Alun Rowlands 38:28. Eryri's men finally showed their championship credentials, being 1st team on the day but the defending champions have left it too late to defend their title, currently placed 4th with only the final race to go at Deeside on Wednesday 28th April, still it looks as if the consistent Brendan Rothery will take over from Rob Samuel as the Border League overall champion as he currently leads by a 14 point margin.
Eryri's women were handed a 100 point penalty for not having the required three runners as 171st (3rd LV/50) Bridget Ripley 39:05 and 180th Gwen Jones (On her Border league debut) 39:29 left them with an outside chance of promotion if they can make up a 27 point deficit in the final race at Deeside. There were 225 finishers.
