SILVER LINING FOR ERYRI'S WOMEN

Eryri Harriers women secured the runners up spot in the FRA British Championships following the final race at Y Garn on Saturday 1st August where Andrea Rowlands led the team to second place on the day behind the 2009 FRA Champions Calder Valley, while Eryri's men won on the day to finish fourth overall in the championships. Conditions on the day were excellent, dry with very little wind and sunny intervals though conditions underfoot were slippery on the descent following the rain. The womens race was won by Claire Whitehead (Cosmic) in a course record time of 32:08 while the men's race was won by Bangor University student Nick Swinburn (Northumberland) in another course record time of 25:44. The race was also a Welsh Athletics championship and Inter Regional event. Tim Davies currently leads the WA Championships following his fourth place overall (1st Welsh) finish at Y Garn ahead of equal 2nd: Richard Roberts & Martin Shaw, Noel Craine leads the MV40 category, Arwel Lewis the MV/50 and Dic Evans the MV/60 ahead of Don Williams.
