ERYRI'S MEN CLIMB TO SAFETY

In the fourth Borders Road Running league fixture at Mold on Sunday 14th March Eryri men's best team score of the season of 521 saw them climb one place and out of the relegation positions for the first time this season. The tough undulating 5.2 mile race was won by Deeside AC's Ricky Challinor in 26:48 with 3rd placed Brendan Rothery leading the Eryri contingent home in 27:25 followed by new recruit and making his Border League debut Ifan Richards 26th in 30:29. 44th and making a welcome return to racing after a serious knee injury Chris Evans 31:13. 45th Despite suffering with yet another virus! Arwel Lewis 31:16. 51st Tony Woodall 31:36. 60th After his TV appearance with Mo Farah the previous day at the UK Intercounties Cross Country Championships in Birmingham (That is, when Mo lapped Jos!!) 32:22. 61st Ashley Wager 32:28. 72nd After competing in the Moel Wnion race the previous day, Gwyn Williams 33:00. 90th and 1st MV/65 Don Williams 34:39. 97th and 2nd MV/65 Emyr Davies 34:58. 102nd another Border League debutant Nick Jones 35:15. 106th Ian Rothery 35:33. 154th (Bus driver) Mervyn Williams 38:08 and 161st Alun Rowlands 38:31.
In the overall team standings Wirral are seemingly running away with the title totalling 1246pts. 2nd Buckley 2026pts. 3rd Wallasey 2547pts. 4th Prestatyn 2560pts. 5th Eryri 2753Pts. 6th Wrexham 2970pts and 7th Abergele 5305pts.
Eryri's women got the required three runners out to keep up their promotion challenge with Becky Law 120th in 36:09. 190th Jenny Williamson 43:11 and 195th (2nd FV/60) Maggie Oliver 44:00. Both Becky and Maggie had run the tougher than usual Moel Wnion race the previous day. Eryri's women are currently 3rd in Division Two, 12 points behind West Cheshire in the race for promotion.
The next and penultimate race of the season is at Prestatyn on Sunday 11th April. 11am Start.
