Easter weekend racing news

Manx Mountain Marathon, Isle of Man, circa 31 miles / 10000ft Saturday 3rd April

"Gongs flow in for Eryri at Manx Monster"

In one of the classic long fell races of the UK, Eryri managed to snatch a number of prize gongs. Ultra man Iain Ridgway ran excellently in his first MMM to finish 2nd out of a field of 93 runners in a colossal time of 5hrs 18mins and 23 secs, a mere 5 minutes off 7 time race winner Paul Thompson of CLeMoors. Next Eryri runner home and 1st lady was Manx based Jackie Lee in a time of 5.57.40 and 9th overall, she was closely followed by Noel Craine (recently back from his Lanzarote intensive winter training camp) in 13th and a time of 6.05.11, not far behind was Craine's partner Ali Thomas in 44th but 7th lady and 3rd vet 40 lady in a time of 7.25.01. This set of solid performances ensured Eryri took the 1st team prize - congrats and well done to all!!

Also excellent video clip of 2nd placed Ridgway expertly crossing river in part 2 of the MMM race video at site below:

Pendle Fell Race nr Burnley, 4 mile / 1600ft, Saturday 3rd April

In this classic little fell race near Burnley in Lancashire there were excellent runs for Eryri's Cheshire based traveller Martin Cliffe who finished in 9th, with Lancashire based Russell Owen finishing well in 26th.

Corndon 3 Peaks Classic, Priest Weston, 7 mile / 1850ft, Monday 5th April

In only the second running of this classic route in the Welsh borders it looks as a strong field turned up for the 1st race in the WFRA Welsh Championships. Early news suggests that Maldwyn Harriers own Tim Davies (progressing well in his quest not too ever cut his hair again for charity) was the race victor with Eryri's Martin Cliffe and Matthew Fortes right up in the top 10 men and Andrea Roberts and Jenny Hemming up there for the ladies......................results and positions to be confirmed soon..................
