Advance notice of Tuesday's 3rd race in The Great Arete series and it's a return to Ysgol Bron y Foel in Fron for the running of the prodigious Ras Mynydd Mawr also the first race in this year's Eryri Mountain running championships, measuring in at 3.75 mile with 1500 ft of climb. This race is often spoken of as the best of the Tuesday evening races with a men's record of 30.14 set in 2008 when GB international Nick Swinburn destroyed Colin Jones' 1991 record by 23 seconds whereas the fastest female winning time in recent years was set by Andrea Rowlands in 2008 in a time of 37.55. The race route begins at the quarries in Fron before heading east along a fast road and track section, as the route hits Mynydd Mawr proper the route is a quick, steep but runnable 10 minute plus burst to the summit passing the Riebeckite Microgranite quarry shaft en-route and circling the impressive Cwm Du before a storming fast descent back down the same route and back to the start.
